Robin Sroka (Universität Münster):
Temperley-Lieb algebras and the dga of planar loops
Abstract
Originating in statistical mechanics, Temperley-Lieb algebras form an important family of cellular algebras in representation theory. Recently they have emerged as a testing ground for extending computational methods from algebraic topology, such as homological stability, beyond the study of groups. In this talk, I will survey what is known about their homology and discuss recent joint work with Rachael Boyd, Guy Boyde, and Oscar Randal-Williams. We show that the homology of a Temperley-Lieb algebra on an even number of strands has a rich algebraic structure: it is entirely governed by a differential graded algebra, the dga of planar loops.
