Michael Wiemeler (University of Münster): On circle actions with exactly three fixed points (20.5.2025)

Abstract

Given a class M of closed smooth manifolds and positive integers n and k, does there exist a manifold in M of dimension n admitting a smooth S1-action with exactly k fixed points?

I will mainly concentrate on the class of orientable manifolds and the case k=3. For this case we obtain restrictions on the dimension n.
